Responsible for work on behalf of the Highways Agency as Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) for Area 12, this major organisation has responsibility for the area encompassing the motorways and trunk roads of Yorkshire and peripheral areas from Skipton to Kingston-upon-Hull, Grimsby to Woodall and Scarborough to Ashton-under-Lyme.

Some key duties of the MAC agreement are:
- Maintenance of highways, bridges and other structures, footpaths and cycleways
- Design and implementation of highway improvements
- Management of specialist contractors
- Liaison with police and local authorities and statutory undertakers
- Street lighting and sign maintenance.

Their Highways Engineering Department is split into three teams:
- Renewals: Responsible for the design of highways maintenance schemes typically ranging in value from £500,000 to £5 million.
- Improvements: Responsible for undertaking scheme identification studies and designs of highway improvement schemes up to £1 million.
- Value Management: Responsible for the preliminary design, justification and value management of highways maintenance schemes ranging in value from £50,000 to £5 million.

An Operational Health and Safety Advisor is required to join this renowned Construction Organisation. To be based in Normanton, the successful candidate will be involved in the continued successful provision of Health and Safety services across the Yorkshire region.

Your daily duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the requirements of the relevant Health & Safety legislation are met.
- Identifying, developing and implementing best practice solutions from any source.
- Advising colleagues and external parties on all matters pertinent to Health and Safety.
- Planning, conducting and coordinating safety audits in line with company requirements and those of the Client and / or other external bodies.
- Delivering internal training initiatives.
- Investigating and monitoring actions in relation to accidents and near misses.

Working alongside the Health and Safety Co-ordinator and reporting to the Business Systems Manager, the position will carry a competitive salary and will include the provision of a company vehicle. An Operational Health & Safety Advisor is required to join this major Construction Venture in the Yorkshire region. Applicants are required from a strong Civil Engineering background in highways and roads projects.

You will have a range of suitable and relevant Health and Safety qualifications, with particular reference to highway engineering.
